arrowGetting to know Coach Hassan

Your career background:

I have been working with children and young people since the age of 17 in different environments from youth clubs, grassroots football, primary schools, colleges, community inclusion programmes and for a number of sport coaching organisations which includes a professional football clubs registered charity. Most of my work has consisted of coaching football as well as other sports activities and the PE National Curriculum to primary aged children but I have also worked as a Team Leader on the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme across Blackburn, Lancaster and Kendal.

Why did you want to go into sports coaching?

I enjoy being involved in all things that are related to sports. I enjoyed participating in PE lessons at primary and secondary school as well as playing Futsal for Blackburn Rovers for 2 years between the ages of 16-18. I started coaching at a young age and loved how diverse the delivery is when working with different age groups. I enjoy all aspects of coaching from developing fundamental movement skills to developing technical and tactical knowledge for more advanced and competent participants. I also want to influence sporting habits for life amongst children so they can develop a love of sport whether that be playing, officiating or coaching.

What are your interests outside of work?

I coach goalkeepers for a number of local grassroots football teams, I can’t get enough of coaching!!! I also enjoy playing football when I have the time if I’m not coaching and reading up on contemporary things that are happening in the world of sport.

What are you passionate about?

Working with people to develop a love of sports, whether that be; participation, coaching, officiating, volunteering and also developing relationships and rapport with people. I am a peoples person and love the social interactions that come through the medium of sport.

What is the favourite thing about your job?

Seeing the children’s face light up when they see you just before an activity, lesson or just in general passing by. The children see you in a position of trust and react very positively to me and I do really enjoy that 🙂
